The confidence concept is concerning in many fields. For example, medical transcription is rapidly being taken on by AI. If it does a pretty good job most of the time, the dictating doctor will become complacent. Where I live, it is the doctor who holds the entire burden of responsibility for errors (similar to how drivers are held responsible here). If we held the companies even partially responsible for lethal errors, perhaps they'd be compelled to improve safety.
