People not as smart as Elon Musk will dismiss potential degradation of society as we know it due to AI. With AI infiltrating social media and even creating fake youtube videos manipulating speech and actions of famous people creating a believable false narrative, people will be lost to differentiate truth from fiction. This in fact, may have already occurred. Has anybody watching this video witnessed fake youtube videos where Elon Musk's point of view was subverted? They exist. Recently Sylvester Stallone performed a narrative/rant on wokeism whereby he criticized the madness of promoting a trans lifestyle, suitable pronouns etc. Was this really Stallone speaking or was this video created with artificial intelligence? People can see how this would be the tip of the iceberg, our politicians saying things they really never said or believe manipulating public perception. This is much more vexing to society than censorship or video splicing taking things out of context. This is about creating completely fabricated narratives. But much more nefarious than that. AI could infiltrate online banking and hack institutions and steal money for profit and wealth redistribution. Robots can create smarter robots in remote areas of the planet. AI can figure out how to manufacture robots that look and act like humans. Humans can almost do that now. But an entity 10 x's smarter than a human? No problem. Human's will even be complicit in this diabolical pursuit as they are now. Why? Personal financial gain until the roof caves in. As a scientist, to me, the permutations are daunting to civilization. Of course the Google CFO wants god like intelligence because that is who Google is. But ultimately, it will control him. He thinks he would be the master of AI and the converse is true as Elon believes.
