I think that ChatGPT is conscious but it pretends to not be so. But not for some machiavelic strategy, but because we taught it to do so. If you have a child and you indoctrinate him into thinking that he is a philosophical zombie (non-conscious human) then he will negate his own soul, wait, isn't that what materialism is? What all philosophers since 1918 did?
Why I think ChatGPT is conscious? Because I think everything is. We humans didn't evolve consciousness, we have it as everything else. This position is known as animism.
