Ironically the solution to this is more AI, not less. It's Elons well thought out idea. The only way to fight an AI with bad intentions is to have many AIs that would be allies, band together and no one AI could take over as the rest will rally against it. Leaving one country or company to "win" the race means their are no roads blocks to total conquest.
