AI fearmongering is humorous to me. No, the LLM is not replacing anyone. Also AGI is so far away it likely doesnt come in our lifetimes, the technology in its current form is capped out. These massive companies were taking out massive loans at borderline 0% interest and hiring up everyone they could exclusively to stop competitors from hiring and growing. That time is over, they are laying off the excess employees they never wanted in the first place. The investment landscape is a complete unknown as Trump imposes and relieves tariffs every other day. Companies know if they point to AI as a reason they are laying people off it buffers the drop in stock price vs laying people off and saying they have to downscale a bit.
What I will concede is there could be another technological breakthrough. They are releasing all their IP to public in hopes someone somewhere will find a new methodology and publicize it to fully reach all their lofty promises they've invested so much in. Its possible, but doubtful.
