I am trying to comprehend, if an artist takes your work, copies its "style" that is ok as you find that person "appreciates" you. However, if it was AI, that is disrespectful to you, and if it was someone that traced the image, that would be thieft, and AI is theift? Interesting take on how the artist might feel, but it doesn't make it theift for one, and for seconds doesn't mean that even people as myself that trains AI, doesn't have any respect for the artists either. In fact, to make models better, people as myself are going through the countless text and images to put them up to the real thing, and going, "Nope, this is not right." we are studying the detail, the lighting, the atmosphere. If anything, we appreciate the art and artist even more. However the same can't be said for the end user, they might just want something that looks pretty and well, that degrades what the art is, in some sense. Tracing and hodge podging something together, or as you phrase it, "Frankinsteining" isn't thieft either. Even artists themselves do the same thing when they draw, and they take it from themselves to create something new from what they already have done. Is Disney a thief because they had copied the same dance from the Aristocats and Robin Hood, the same sequence from the Sword in the Stone, Jungle Book and Winnie the Pooh? We laugh now because we are able to catch such things in this digital age but in truth, it saves a lot of time and work. Ever since the advent of Photoshop hodge podge art has been a thing and people complained then, but less now, but still. An artist I know here on youtube, takes peoples art they send in, and recreates it by taking pictures from the internet and then uses photoshop to make awesome work. The thing is, today, some might say his work is AI when it is photoshop. Still, that doesn't make his art, theift and he is not a thief. And no matter how one works, what medium, or tool, doesn't degrade their own appreciation for art either. What makes something thieft is when someone takes something that is from someone else, and they claim that it is theirs, be it their art, their name, or reputation. The image of and identity of an individual is their own so in that sense, if I were to pretend to be you, then yes, that would be stealing your idenity, and if I were to take your art ripped straight from this video and go upload it myself and say that I am you, that is theift, AI doesn't do any of that, neither those who use photoshop or take photos. What does that are people, people with ill intent. If someone uses AI to steal your idenity and art, don't sue the AI company, sue the person that stole your art. If a carpenter built a house for you and it fell down, do you sue the carpenter or the one that made the carpenters hammer?
