I've been saying for a while that the problem with AI isn't that it is sentient or conscious or self-aware or even "all wise" (it's nothing like that in the slightest), but that a critical mass of people will wrongly attribute these things to it. Are we witnessing the modern equivalent of attributing the universe of wonders to god(s), or is it more like a lot of people believing what faith healers, psychics and magicians do is real? The Large Language Model AI is indeed an awesome and impressive parlour trick, even "scaring" me at first before I dug a little deeper into how its done.
