People sorely miss the point of banana on wall whenever someone brings it up as a "modern art is trash" conversation because... The whole point of art is that it's conversational. It conveys something. And the banana gimmick did JUST that! It served its purpose, it got people talking. Not to mention, the concept came from a real person who had intent, regardless of if you think that intent is really fucking stupid. So unironically, yes, banana on wall is infinitely better than AI "art" because it's real art. It has a concept. AI does not, it can only mimic. There is no thought behind it, there is no way to interpret it besides what is shown to you, there is no meaning. Even diaper fetish weirdo art has more meaning. That's like... The whole point. If you give a baby a crayon and it drools on the paper, that crayon and drool concoction is still more artistically credible than even the most "polished" AI slop. Art is inherently human. You can't have art without humanity.
