The portraits Charlie drew in college look like they are of the same person and don't even resemble the actual person he was intending to draw. I can't help but imagine that he actually drew a perfect depiction of some kind of boogie man who haunts Charlie in his dreams, but retreats to his subconscious as soon as he awakens, erasing Charlie's memory of this evil being during his waking hours and only emerging in the form of portraits he attempts to draw, as if his subconscious mind is trying to reach out and cry for help. It's only a matter of time before this blocky, black-haired devil manifests in our reality and wreaks havoc on the waking world...
Also, I agree that the AI art dude is a clown. Generative AI threatens to diminish the role which art plays in human culture and media by removing intentionality from a medium that is fundamentally about conveying the inspiration and intention of the creator to the audience.
