The AI deceiving us is far less worrisome than billionaires with political agendas deceiving us. It's already happening as influencers are being copycatted and faux competing sites developed to 'divide and conquer'. We know now that deception played a large part in influencing the last election, demographics targeted and messages sent through fake representatives with the sites being scrubbed after the election and the money behind them hidden until then as well. Only with the best and the brightest working on behalf of "the greater good" is there a chance of keeping up and finding truthful alternatives.
