The problem isn't AI, it's capitalism. The goal of life isn't to work, it's to be able to live a dignified life. If AI makes it so that many people don't have to work anymore (if they don't want to) in order to have a fulfilled, dignified life, then that's fantastic. If rather than hundreds of millions of people being able to live comfortably off of a universal basic income, instead a handful of billionaire capitalists hoard exponentially more wealth for themselves, then THAT is the problem. Dismantle capitalism, redistribute wealth.
If Elon Musk and co. want to build millions of robots to replace workers, that's great! Put him in a 99% Tax bracket, which still allows him a monstrously lavish lifestyle, and use that money to fund a comfortable basic income for all those replaced workers, who are now free to live their lives however they wish - like for example refocusing on community work and engagement, rather than slaving away at an unfulfilling dead end job.
Replace capitalism, or capitalism will replace you. Pretty simple choice.
