A solid argument, but not sure it rises to the level of a proof. For starters, whether the character is a kind old man or a dirty old man, what the character saw made them feel positive emotions. It still made the character some version of happy and/or pleased. So while just by changing the intermediate clip, you change how a viewer feels about the character being portrayed, it isn't necessarily the characters emotions that have changed, but our understanding of why they feel that way and how we percieve them as a result of that interpretation of what thoughts qe believe to be going through their head. It doesn't sound from your intro that the ai are claiming to be able to read thoughts, just that they are able to read emotions. While I still don't necessarily believe that they can, I don't know that your argument of it being impossible is convincing.
