Let's be real, they hoped AI would take off because they don't know how to do their jobs, therefore don't know how to train new hires. That's why they want degrees for entry level. Organizations don't know what they are doing every single day, because the people who did know, retired or got laid-off for being expensive. The computer can teach itself, and we can adjust knobs while it "guess and checks" it's way to competence.
