A computer that uses a language created by humans with a bias of including feelings into words and etiquete, will have to politely pretend to have these feelings in order to communiciate in a way that feels natural. When you wish someone a good day, you're litterally expressing a wish that they will have a good day because you like them and wish the best for them. But in common speech you are using the words that signal a greeting so that a conversation can start. To say you're excited to be on a show, is to give a polite greeting that you are ready to answer questions for the host. To say you're sorry is to admit a mistake. In normal social occasions language is more than the literal text. An LLM picks up on those more complex purposes that the text has and uses them like that. I'm not surprised by this.
