I'd say the problem is not with AI art itself or with it feeding on artist's works. Language models do the same thing with books. What is actually bad is people misusing it. AI is at most a tool. A barely functional, messed up from a legality and ethics perspective. It's not art. The niche uses it actually will have when tech-bros finally stop pretending it's a wonder of humanity are different from actual art. The tech in itself is not always bad, the people are.
