I feel like this would not be the shitstorm it is if the people making the AI data models simply sourced the art ethically. People work hard on their art and if you do it for a living, you tend to want to get paid for that effort.
AI art tools are an inevitability now, what's going to matter is if they are used to assist working artists or if they continue to abuse legal grey zones and harm artists financially.
