I’m one of them academic art students. My teacher always said that art isn’t necessarily about expressing emotions or any of that shit. It’s about creating an object that has never existed before, something renewing and fresh to the eyes, and its existence is what causes our own emotional reaction. He also says that art doesn’t need emotions to be made, you can just do the mathematical structure knowing that the people who look at it will project their own emotions and their own interpretation onto that art. One of my other teachers stated that good art uses the perfect form to communicate its message or subject. She says that there will be parallels between the shape, technique and material of the work, and what the work wants to tell you. The inside of the artwork and its material existence are so tightly knit that separating them in the way AI does (using someone’s style that exists for other images, and molding it into another image thought up by a completely different person) makes a very soulless object. We analyzed this one painter whose whole life experience could be read in every one of his works. Whatever he portrayed, if you looked at them, you would be able to feel his humanity and his life in it, because it is visible in the techniques, the way he created this object. He would make these extremely bright overly-lit paintings that exposed everything about the subject, showing its weaknesses and ironies, showing its flaws and ultimately showing how utterly empty and meaningless it was. My teacher said that the artist was a frightened child who saw all kinds of things in the shadows and the nooks and the corners. His work, his entire life purpose, is a direct mirror of who he is. objects don’t make an artist. The artist makes the object. People who use Ai aren’t artists, they steal the techniques of real ones and make a blank, soulless copy that has no thought and no intelligence. It’s utterly worthless as art. They will never be valuable outside of a capitalist system.
