Gonna save you a few minutes and brain cells, yes AI can be """racist""" (a more accurate way to phrase it would be biased since it's not just a racial issues) mostly due to datasets not having enough samples of people of different skin colours, people don't deliberately program racist AIs but they can end up that way due to not enough care being taken. Academia has been aware of and working on this problem for years though, this is not a new issue, I even did my PhD with a guy who's thesis was on ways to reduce bias...
