Whenever thinking about AI art, I will always be reminded of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's video for their song Iron Lung. The visuals are incrdible and take on a psychedelic journey as the song compliments it. I was incredibly hyped over this music video because the visuals blew me away that someone could make something so complex with the way it transitioned from one scene to another. This was around when AI stuff was popping off, and I had my suspicions about it, and upon further investigation, it was in fact made with AI. And suddenly all the emotion I felt toward this piece of, what I thought to be art, was drained away. Knowing that it was created by a machine rather than a human making deliberate creative decisions compared to a gesture in the direction of those same thoughts fills me with an existential dread I can't explain.
Thankfully i beleive that has been their only foray into AI stuff, likely due to backlash from fans and further discourse happening about the ethics of using it. So I dont particularly blame them for it, but it does saddens me it wasnt real.
