First off, I don't think young kids should be introduced to tech until their mid-teens (it's not that hard to get up to speed). We should be teaching THE TRIVIUM — grammar, logic, and rhetoric, essentially. We should NOT be sitting kids in front of a computer until they have basic foundational logical and ethical skills. We should also be teaching kids (and adults) how to do basic skills again — cooking, growing food, nutrition, how to preserve food, budgets, household management (to all genders). These skills have been lost over several generations. Do NOT say, "this should be the responsibility of the parents," because parents don't have these skills either. We should not have corporations writing curriculums or providing branded curriculums to classrooms, period. We should not have a textbook industry involved either in teaching "approved" knowledge. We need to be teaching research methods, how to think critically, and how to communicate and understand how to find information. I think there is a time and a place to understand how to use technology, and it should be included — but it should not be the be-all of knowledge learning. Kids are being dumbed down, and that is the fault of teachers, administrators, and the like. AI should be understood and taught. I am 57, and I am taking a course in AI — but I have been using it to understand what it can do. It can provide additional assistance to outside learning, develop curriculums, even construct tests. It can be a tool.
