I think the thing that makes AI scary is that it learns from humans. Humans are selfish, devious, violent, and hateful. We're a horrible species to be a teacher unless you want soldiers and liars. I think that's what people are really scared of, is AI turning out just like us. You can see the projection in our movies. We assume AI will kill us all, aliens will come to enslave us or kill us and steal our resources. We assume that because that's what we do. No one wants to admit that we're the violent monsters, but the projection is everywhere, proving deep down we all know what we are
