"Unmasking anonymous people doing anonymous things online," "we need a global effort," that sounds like a slippery slope that lawmakers are happy to take advantage of.
If a true deep fake law ever come out, it'll probably come after or as an excuse to get rid of privacy and will be easy to abuse. God knows how much any lawmaker would love to be able to jail 'offensive' people.
Deep fake will just be the latest excuse they use.
