Look, while I'm not firmly in the pro-ai-art camp, this argument feels a little condescending. Time is a luxury and while yeah, everyone gets better with time, the amount of time it actually takes massively varies. It is not unthinkable for someone to be envious of those that had the free time and drive to do something, and it is not unreasonable for them to see attacks on AI tools as an attempt to keep them reliant on what to them are members of an unattainable elite. Getting groceries is easier than hunting, but anyone *can* hunt. If someone was telling you to put down the whole foods bag and pick up a gun, I could see that being fairly comparable. After all, the grocery store tv dinner isn't nearly as nice as fresh venison. AI art infringes on (at least the spirit of) intellectual copyright and, if adopted en masse, leads to vastly crappier and more derivative imagery in the world around us. That is the problem. Someone wanting to make something and feeling bitter that others try and stop them from using tools to do so is not, in my opinion, the evil at the heart of AI. Not everyone has the time or indeed the frame of mind to make those shousands of drawings, just like not everyone has the time or frame of mind to kill a deer every time they want meat.
