There is one argument that has bot been addressed, one that comes from lead computer scientists (like Le Cun, who pionneered the technology that is at the base of LLMs and was lead AI officer at Meta until recently when he left to create his own AI start up). The argument is that current technology (LLMs) cannot reach AGI even if you augment the number of parameters to infinity. If they are right, that might give us longer to find a solution.
