You know 5 + 5 is 10. But how do you know? By the rules of algorithmic operations (addition in this example). But how do you know the rules give you truths? You grasp them by understanding. This is where consciousness appears! LLMs do not and will not have this capability. Unless the fundamental architecture of how they operate changes.
