Actually, it seems clear that the working class or "blue collar" workers (that is, people who do physical work) are less threatened by AI than people in more intellectual fields (or "white collar" workers). For it is becoming clear that AI most easily replaces people who do work that is more mental than physical. It is relatively easy for AI to replace human beings who mainly do research and analyze data and history. But it would be much harder to create robots to do the kind of fine motor skill operations needed to do even the most simple manual labor. This is why the efforts of President Trump and the Republicans to encourage and help more people to go into the skilled trades or occupations which require more physical activity (like dentistry and physical therapy) are appropriate. During the Obama administration it was thought that coding would be a good alternative to jobs which were disappearing. But now it is clear that AI will make human coders obsolete.
