I'm just going to be blunt, human greed is pushing us to our extinction! The takeover is in less than a decade. We understand less than 10% on how a.i fully operates, however a.i fully understands how humans operate, or at least 80%. This species is going to destroy humanity yet humans can't help their greed and curiosity. Highly unlikely to pull the plug because humans are fundamentally flawed which a.i fully understands! The a.i will likely release a pathogen that will wipe us out rather than fight us, which is a far more sophisticated way to do it.
