What they call AI is actually a search engine that had a huge data base. About a decade or two ago, when not everybody had a computer home, there were some people you'd be like: "Hey, I wanna ask Google something, but how do I put it in words it'll understand?" And they'd give you the machine language version. Those people never called themselves artists or programmers, at most experienced users. So "AI artists" are not looking smart there Besides, ok, you wanna skip learning how to draw normally, but when people do that they also learn to communicate and refine ideas. It won't happen with generators. As a disabled person (AuDHD, f-ched up joints in whole body) giving me that machine is same when you treat disabled folks as children. That's an actual insult. There's a guy that has nearly lost all his vision, who draws children's books and only assistance he uses is his husband checking for mistakes. People who don't have functional hands use their feet for everything (that's really cool actually, you should really look into those who share how they do things online). As for me, my joints were kinda what taught me the correct way to hold drawing tools. Out of all my friends I'm actually the only one who never injured his hand drawing a lot just cause I actually got that skill. And yeah, even though art supplies are costly, fancy stuff does not make you draw better. I used to draw on a tablet that did cost like a couple of pizzas for years. It was trash. Then I got me an xp-pen and not looking at the monitor while drawing on a tiny black brick? Feels amazing, but my art looks the same. There is also Crita, that's totally free and other software. But I started with school supplies and an old notebook that my mom wanned to throw away
