Law is actually a really obvious place to apply AI tech, although GPTs are the wrong type of AI to use. Instead machine learning algorithms would be better suited because it's fairly trivial to program the listof acceptable outputs to direct quotes from the source documents.
There's literally no reason to use a generative algorithm to sort or search for things from a finite list.
GPTs are Generative, meaning they create new content. That's the exact opposite of what you want your program to do if it's supposed to find case law examples for you.
This isn't a flaw of GPT, it's a flaw in the application of it. It's using a hammer instead of a screwdriver. It might seem like it's working if you keep forcing it to try, but it's never going to work as well as the correct tool.
Any procedures that don't require novel outputs don't need GPTs to be automated, it's usually much simpler and more effective to just program it logically.
