Denmark in 2017, selfdriving cars was put on "trial", spoiler, they still are,. The owner/driver of the car is still 100% liable, even if you put the car in "self-driving-mode" you as a driver is liable for the damages the car is responsable for, unless it can be proven that the car acted outside of your control. This means you are still counted as being the operator of the vehicle, even if its in "self-driving-mode"...
in short, never take your eyes off the road, the technology is not perfect, we all know it, use your common sense. Only if you slam the breaks, and the car speeds up is the company liable.
So keep your F***ING eyes on the road when you drive, had this happend in Denmark Tesla would have 0% fault, because the driver was not paying attention.
Had I been on the jury in this trial, I would not have botched from 100% drivers fault.
This is not political or anything like that, I hate Elon as much as everyone else, but common sense should trump (god, I hate that guy, but it is still a word, not a person)..... Common sense should trump any company claim.
