AI reminds me of The Corporation in the movie Highlander 2. Basically ALL the Earth's energy is routed to the shield. It's what keeps UV radiation from killing everyone on the planet. These days centers are going to eventually suck ALL the Earth's energy resources to function. You just wait. There's going to be some kind of emergency that requires AI to be in charge of the planet.
