The first error people will make in conclusion to watching and listening to this conversation will be assuming that the problems the engineer discussed aren’t already a present issue. We talk about YouTube algorithms all the time, what does an algorithm do? It adapts to what you watch. Part of that algorithm is decided for you no matter what. This effect of changing public perception through machine learning is not a prediction or an omen to the future, we have already fallen to it. We ARE in that matrix.
