Thank you for speaking on this, I don't see many other people speaking on how serious this is. AI isn't just a "cool tool" that we can use to assist us. It will change the whole structure of our society and our economy. It may sound like "science fiction" and like this will happen far in the future, but it's happening now. People just don't realize it because we don't see flying cars or robots casually walking around. It's all happening on computers, where the AI intelligence is advancing faster and faster than anyone realizes. Just look at how bad AI was 2 years ago compared to now. I'm in my final year of Computer Engineering, and just in the past few months, our professors have been seriously discussing AI more and more along with its impact on jobs. It's been developing a lot faster within this past year, and the general public doesn't see how serious it is since the true reality of it hasn't been strongly publicized. Just a year ago, AI could barely write functioning code and was only good for debugging. Now, just a year later, it writes code really well and often works on the first try. Many scientists and even these AI CEOs predict that these changes will significantly impact our society within the next 5-10 years or longer, which is way too soon for the CEOs to just play it off like it's not a big deal. No one knows how big this will be, and we need to get these CEOs and companies to slow down their development, but I honestly don't think that will happen.
