I'm only a few minutes into the video, but I have been banging on about AI for ages, around about the same time I realised that humanity was headed for a population collapse. We are slowly, but faster and faster, evolving ourselves out existence. Deliberately but unconsciously. And actually that's FINE. Think about where consciousness inevitably goes; from your house to your village to your city to your country to your planet to the solar system etc etc. The fact is the pathetically ill-adapted for the future piece of meat we are all driving around, that is constantly breaking down, needs to sleep for 1/3 of its existence, that is so fragile quite literally a stiff wind or a bit of water will kill it, is hilarious unprepared for the extraordinary progress that it is about to unleash. We aren't the end of things. We are just a step along the way. We are giving birth to a new form of consciousness and intelligence and eventually we will make way for it, just asany proud parent does for their children. Oh I think we will hang around in some form or another, probably hugely genetically and robotically enhanced, but we will be museum pieces. We will be kept alive like Model-T Ford care enthusiasts lovingly maintain an important historic artefact. We ARE important, the role we are playing is historic and crucial, but it is just a role and we will become obsolete, like Lucy. Or Australopithecus.
