4:36 there's a few videos on YouTube about this too but, as of the date of this video Tesla cars are not in fact equipped with radar. In fact, they don't feature lidar, or ultrasonic sensors either (they used to have these, according to their website, but phased it out starting 2021); instead relying solely on "Tesla vision" which uses regular cameras. The issue is, while there's a few ways you can get data about your surroundings that allow a machine to know what's around none of them are perfect, they all have pros and cons (one may be precise but not fast or even 'short sighted', another would be able to see distance but sacrifices precision at short distances. This isn't just about computer vision but most things work like that. Cats vision is much better than humans at catching tiny fast things and seeing distant things, but human vision has far greater detail especially with light) - this is why even robot vacuums often use multiple systems such as having LiDAR as well as infrared sensors. In fact, from what I can tell - industry leaders in robotics and computer vision often use multiple systems at once and then have a computer generate a map of the surroundings using all the data. Cameras for example, are great in a lot of ways but tend to not work as well without enough light or get confused with shadows. So basically, apart from all the misleading lies and potentially unethical business practices that the case was about: Tesla is not even advancing the industry or at the forefront of the engineering and science in any significant way.
