What we see is what we always see once a new technology hype comes along: management that doesn't know shit from shinola and has no understanding of what is being sold, is eager to reduce cost by firing as many people as they can. Then the new technology, which they do not bother to properly test before deploying it, utterly fails to do what it was sold as being capable of doing. Then, to the shocked surprise of management, and absolutely nobody else, the numbers tank because the cost savings did not materialise because the costs saved at one end of the equation are tacked onto the other end. If you have to double check whether the AI results are valid and sound you're going to spend a lot of money doing that checking, which costs a lot of time and resources and no costs were actually saved. The actual costs that could have been saved: cutting executive management headcount by 15% and bonuses by 50%, that would make a difference to the bottom line.
