Now that AI is starting to get better at coding, I see the same reaction from people as back when AI first began generating images. They use the early models—which are still in their infancy—and complain about every mistake the AI makes. I’m sure that even now, AI already writes significantly better code than most software developers who build small, simple programs. On top of that, the time it takes AI to produce a program is not comparable to the time a human would need. Just like in graphic design, this space will likely evolve to a point where programmers delegate and oversee more than they actually write themselves. I’m a graphic designer myself, and since I started using AI tools, I’ve become twice as fast and effective. I can finally bring visions to life that I used to outsource to others. I have more time to be creative and focus on the parts of the job I actually enjoy. I see the same development happening here. If, as a programmer, you don’t have good ideas or critical thinking, then you don’t really add much value—even without AI. I don’t understand why people always have to speak so dismissively about AI. With image generation, I can at least understand the argument that the “soul” is missing in the art—but with code? This space will be completely replaced by AI. And as a coder, you should adapt as quickly as possible—because tools like Claude are only getting better. If you’re not building software for large-scale infrastructures or complex enterprise ecosystems, you’ll soon become replaceable unless you position yourself correctly.
