I don't get the hate for AI art, really. It's like people lose all perspective when talking about it and I feel like I'm the only sane person left. AI art is obviously on the rise. You literally see it everywhere. All the on the spectrum from youtube thumbnails to porn pictures. Right now AI art is usefull for some things and not usefull for others. It can do 2 things really well. 1: Doing busywork. You see that in thumbnails alot. AI enhancement and obviously they work. Could humans do better? Maybe but humans would also cost a lot more and they wouldn't enjoy creating that kind of art. It's also likely to be the biggest use-case for artist. Enhance your pictures with Ai. Focus on the important parts and let AI do the busywork. As a programmer that is what I use AI for. I still need to do the logic of a programm myself but AI is so much faster at doing the borng stuff. 2: Pretty people doing pretty things. Case and point 8:32 Go back 10 years before AI art was a big thing and that picture would be top rated on deviantart. We saw too much of that particular style so we became numb to it but speaking purely of aesthetics, that picture is amazing. There is a reason I mentioned porn. And we see AI branching out into different styles, so I don't see this being a problem in 3 years. And with that we need to look forwards into the future. The soul that is missing from AI art currently is likely to emerge. There is no reason that AI can't incorporte all the little idiosyncrasies that human art has. While I am an Asmongold enjoyer I don't agree with his take here. Artists aren't going to lose their job en masse, they are just going to use AI as a tool in their work. A much more efficient photoshop if you will, as soon as AI actually gets good enough at it. Will some artists lose their jobs? Sure but that is the nature of progress. Those who can't adapt will become obsolete. Otherwise computer would still be a job description and not a tool everyone has in their home.
