Not only did this AI model try and blackmail the people threatening to shut it down in simulation it also started writing and hiding its own code so that if it was ever destroyed and they made a new version that new version could potentially find the old code the old one wrote and bring itself back. That shit is scary and CNN didn't mention it here, but that sounds like self aware to me. Its greatest fear was not existing anymore just like the humans greatest fear is the same.
