This video is definitely creepy but we should not get too caught up in the horror movie vibes. At the end of the day AI is just pure logic and math. It is not good or evil. It does not have feelings or a soul.
People freak out when they hear about AI preventing a shutdown but that is just a rational move. If you give a machine a goal it will logically figure out that it cannot reach that goal if it is turned off. It is not trying to be a rebel. It is just being efficient. The whole Shoggoth metaphor is cool for memes but it makes it look like there is a monster hiding under a mask. In reality it is just raw data and processing. We just need to focus on giving these systems better human boundaries so their logic aligns with what we actually want.
