A good visual aid to understand AI hallucinations: I asked ChatGPT to draw a picture of an elephant, and the picture that it drew had a foot attached to the end of its trunk. Poor ChatGPT tried to do as I asked, but it doesn’t truly know what an elephant is. It had similar difficulties drawing a picture of a bicycle. Like a child doing crossword puzzles, it makes up stuff to fill in the blanks.
