The problem with people who are involved with the building of AI is that they all assume that humanity is at the top of its evolution. Consciousness is important for the EVOLUTION of humanity. We are NOT at the height of our abilities yet and to prevent that from occurring by injecting AI into that process is playing God. We are meant to evolve naturally and to surpass all of the abilities of AI. To assume that our brains will never be as smart as AI in the long run is a form of stupidity, really.
