I will comment this not from software engineering point of view but from language teacher pow, my actual job. If you just read and do not produce the language you will not get really good at it. It is simply imposible. It is like trying to learn math without practicing, without getting your hands dirty. You will not understand something at some point. AI codes great, yes, based on what AI learned from human code, but if we humans stop writting, in my humble opinion, the development will be not as it was. We will have thousands of new apps everyday, yes... but very innovative? or just a make over of the same old stuff? Well, as I said, this is just a random opinion from a random guy...
