AI art tools in their current form are heavily limiting.
An artist ought to have wisdom or familiarity of fundamentals like color and composition, but artists should not be gatekept by needing the tools and space to store brushes and paint jars. This is was the technical evolution of the stylus and tablet gave us. It didn't replace traditional art skills or remove the human elements, they enhanced them.
AI tool assistance is the next stage of art evolution (among other professions), but the hurdle it's facing is we're trying to make it do _everything_, instead of finding and focusing on what unnecessary chores it can alleviate from students and masters alike.
Personally, I believe AI assistants need to be designed like teachers or advice givers. They should be able to fetch someone information in how something is done, but not immediately apply that knowledge without first going their the artist who requested it. Like a silent teacher to stands behind someone at the canvas, ready to answer questions or point at the canvas.
