As an artist, I have felt the hit. I unsubbed and blocked Shad's channels after watching him for years. I was already being VERY tolerant of his religious views on gays, women, trans people, and marriage, but adding the AI stuff wasn't me being very begrudgingly tolerant of his stupid religious views--this wasn't covered in his terrible mystical book--he's literally supporting theft of another's talent. I went to Conquest of Mythodea this last week. While I was there, I taught a "kid" (23) how to paint miniatures when we were given a quest to help a man make a dagger which involved painting an unfinished larp dagger. The kid was telling me that he had NEVER painted anything in his life save for some sort of sponge technique he helped his sister with when she was painting some piece of furniture once. His dagger turned out beautifully and I am so proud to have had that moment with someone discovering a new hidden talent. Shad is the kind of guy who would have slapped some paint on the thing and then claimed he made the whole dagger and believe it with the way he talks about AI "art." It's frankly disgusting. On my stream today, I was working on a commission painting for a friend/regular client of mine. There was a moment that I've never had as an artist until today when the picture I was working on went from "this is a cool pic," to "this is actual ART." After my experience at Conquest, and my experience today, I honestly feel sorry for Shad, because he will never experience those moments. Each day that I stream, I get better and better as an artist; and that is despite the prevalence of AI slop. Shad is lazy. I'm glad I never bought his book, because his next one is probably gonna be written by AI.
