This is not the first time Amazon has done this. Amazon executives like to think that if they fired everyone today, the AI that's already causing problems all over their infrastructure will heroically step in and produce the quarterly reports to show their achievements. They know the AI lie isn't washing, so they're looking for other ways to reduce headcount by overworking their employees by forcing them to stay longer hours in the office without overtime pay. They also have shares in car and fuel companies, so they'd like the extra revenue from all that traffic and smog
