Obviously we can not predict the future but. I think it is fair to say we do not have a socio-economic theory for mass automation. Those out there that are emotionaly invested in one of the 18th to 19th century theories, ie Adam Smith or Karl Marx, are undoubtedly put forth a solution from that perspective. I for one think it is time to start from scratch and develop something new. One can only put so many bandages on a wound before it starts to rot and fester, eventualy all the bandages have to be removed, all of the necrotic flesh removed and brand new bandages applied. It would be nice if the new theory was wildly effective and actually heals the wound. So we ca say all of the neo marxists are wrong, all of the neoliberals are wrong, all of the capitalists are wrong, and we have not even started on the new theory. Humans...what can you do. I would guess that some things will become so cheap as to be practically free so some form of UBI would go a very long way, granted that probably won't be until the 2070s, the time between now and then UBI will hardly suffice.
