I honestly wouldn’t have as much of an issue with AI image generation if it didn’t steal art and wasn’t so bad for the environment. I would never use it as a method of creating art, but could see it being useful for the brainstorming phase.
AI is genuinely useful for doing things that humans can’t do, especially as a part of medical technology, so it’s a shame people are mostly trying to use it for creative mediums. Unfortunately, we can’t exactly put it back in the box, so I’m a big advocate for legally regulating usage of AI- it could help significantly with some of the issues you mentioned regarding political propaganda and inappropriate content of real people. Could also help with the art theft issue. Until we get tighter regulations on the technology, I hope people keep finding ways to subtly fuck with the datasets.
