While I was genuinly impressed by how far AI has come, I was never seriously convinced that this was the end of art as a career.
Even if AI was truely flawless in it's current state, being good at rendering images only gets you so far if you don't have any ideas of what to render.
Even an AI assisted by an untrained user can only do so much because a human can't ask an AI to, say, produce a three point perspective image of Batman brooding on a rooftop if he doesn't know what three point perspective is.
So in the end, the people most well equiped to produce AI and use it as an artisitc tool are thouse who are trained and have a talent for art anyway.
