1:05 - You're not a real artist because you didn't draw the second hand/eye. You used a PROGRAM to COPY IT and then passed it off as your own work. Look... i'm all for Ethical AI usage... people like you are just as toxic as the Ai stans. You are here not just talking about the issues of it but actively mocking them. YOU are being incredibly toxic, and I only brought up the 1:05 to highlight how easiily this can be flipped on you because yea... you DIDN'T create that second arm. The program did it for you. Thus your art isn't man made it's assisted by a program. I'm also not here saying Generated images are art on their own. Many of them can look good though and that's all I care about as a fellow creative. I am a Dungeon Master and Game Designer. I am currently working on my first full game... I however lack any real technical skill when it comes to actually making art. It sucks but thems the breaks... so I use tools... aka programs... to help me out. My game is an old school style JRPG. I specifically found assets that looked like older (gen 2/3) pokemon and Fire Emblem because I like that aesthetic. - Premade Assets get the same rap as AI... except... someone made those assets FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE of people using them in their games. But the stigma exists. I also use RPG Maker MV as it's my favorite so far of the RPG Maker line. "You're not a coder" is a lot of what I get. Except I do custom scripts for things like bestiaries and such. RPG Maker tools allow for visual 'coding' which really streamlines the process of making a game... but I remember 14 years ago before the success of games like Ao Oni, The Witches House, and Mad Father and many other RPG Maker games... the engine was touted as the 'death of game development' because 'it required no creativity" nevermind that using assets and this tool is perfect for someone like me who can't do the art, and doesn't have time to code an entire game from scratch on top of ya know... actually creating the game. It is a tool that allows for creative freedom to create what I want without being bogged down by the parts I am not skillful enough to do. Would I prefer a 100% custom engine with custom art? Sure... who wouldn't... but that's not in the cards. Now the reason I brought up these two points is because I also use AI in my DMing... sometimes players run in a direction I never expected and I have several tools that allow for rapid generations not of Art, I have a WHOLE FOLDER of actual art... but I have one for generating stat blocks. I have one for generating dungeons. I have one for generating random encounters based on a theme. I have one for generating magic items. It's never perfect, but that's where my skill as a DM comes in. The AI poops out the prototype and I take 5 minutes as I'm setting the scene and getting players organized to prepare the encounter for them. I am a Paid Dm and 90% of the work I do is entirely me, and about 10% is AI. The AI supplements where a human brain cannot. It can build a stat block in seconds, which would take me 10 to 20 minutes to do. Need a quick riddle? Type in the prompt give it a few generations and boom you've got instant dwarven riddle ready for you game. There are hundreds of use cases for AI... and your fear mongering ignores ALL of them because that's all this is. Fear mongering... grifting. For every AI Bro there is one of you Artist Shmucks who can't leave well enough alone. Do I think it's ethical for Ai to pluck any image and train an entire model from it? Well... yes and no. Yes because... how did you learn your art style? You grew up enjoying someones art and it inspired you and whether you admit it or not your favorite artists creep into your works. No because... the attribution is impossible to tell. Unless it's an ethical model where an artist submitted their work and got paid for it... there is very little telling if your piece was ACTUALY referenced or not. For an example I can do a google search of 'female holding her eyes open' and clicking on the first image that looks like your drawing and select 'similar' it then fed me hundreds of images that had a similar vibe as yours. Your drawing is NOT original. The only thing original about it is that it is your interpretation of the concept... and THAT right there is the crux and why I don't really full blown disagree with your point. AI is not 'interpreting' the image... not in the same way your or I do... AI isn't sentient (yet) so it's not like it's looking at the art and getting inspired... no it's pulling images based on a prompt, mashing them together and calling it a day. At the end of the day... like I said my real issue here is you are the polar opposite of Ai Bros and just as toxic... this is why I unsubbed from you about a year and a half ago... not because i disagree with you... because i don't... but I disagree in how much vitriol you spit out of your mouth. We don't need more of you in the world and I really wish ANYONE on either side of the fence who is as toxic as you lost their platform. You don't deserve it anymore. Not until you remember that you are a human being and show so god d**n compassion. Also don't waste your time responding to me... I turned off comment notifications because there isn't ANYTHING someone can say to anything I say that can change my mind. If my mind will be changed it will be by concrete circumstances not some delusional youtuber or their rabid fanbase which both for some reason have a hieghtened sense of self importance because they're supporting 'real' art... it's just egotistical nonsense so I happily turned of f noties for comments about 2 years ago.
